As our Remote Medical Billing Specialist, you will be responsible for the complete medical billing cycle for assigned clinics. This includes meticulous review, thorough analysis, and accurate coding of diagnostic and procedural information to facilitate seamless insurance and patient payments.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Mountain Standard Time (MST) with a 30-minute lunch break from 12:00 PM - 12:30 PM MST.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Identify, collect, assess, monitor, and document patient claims accurately and efficiently.
• Complete all necessary paperwork, documentation, and system entries related to claim and encounter information.
• Thoroughly review medical record information to ensure coding accuracy based on company guidelines and industry standards.
• Actively support and participate in process and quality improvement initiatives within the billing department.
• Proactively review and research accounts to identify and rectify errors in submitted claims.
• Take necessary actions to resolve identified issues, including diligent follow-up with relevant personnel to obtain required information.
• Ensure corrected claims are created and submitted to the appropriate payer in a timely manner.
• Review patient account information and clearly explain charges, as well as address other related inquiries from patients and insurance carriers, while strictly adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
• Assist patients with financial concerns by providing information on payment plans, financial aid options, and other relevant programs according to established policy.
• Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation of all actions taken within relevant systems, adhering to company policy.
• Produce and submit clean claims to insurance companies in a timely and efficient manner.
• Diligently review and appeal unpaid and denied claims to maximize reimbursement.
• Work directly and effectively with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients to facilitate claim processing and payment.
• Manage collections on outstanding patient accounts as needed.
• Assume responsibility for managing the facility's Accounts Receivable reports as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall efficiency of the billing department.

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Proven Medical Billing experience is required. Experience working with an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system is essential (eClinicalWorks preferred).
• CPC coding certification is preferred but not required.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding systems.
• Must possess strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently with meticulous attention to detail.
• Demonstrate a high level of critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for interacting with colleagues, insurance companies, and patients.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Office Suite (including Excel), and SharePoint is required.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced remote work environment.
• Strong data entry skills are necessary for accurate record-keeping.
• Superior customer service, communication, and organizational skills are crucial for this role.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and deadlines, take initiative, and work well with minimal supervision in a remote setting.
